Yvonne Holzer: Computer science student receives teampool scholarship
The University of Salzburg congratulates Yvonne Holzer, born in 2006, on receiving the teampool scholarship! Holzer was already interested in machine learning systems and robotics during her school days at HTBLuVa in Salzburg.
“My enthusiasm for technology and computer science was instilled in me from birth,” says Holzer. “Thanks to my mom, dad, and uncle - they all work in technical fields - I developed a talent for mathematics, technical understanding, and quick comprehension at an early age. These foundations continue to shape me today.”
The decision to study computer science at the University of Salzburg was therefore very easy for Holzer—her mom had already shown her how versatile and flexible this job can be, even with remote work. The idea of being able to work freely and independently of location motivates Holzer to continue developing her professional skills.
She finds projects dealing with artificial intelligence or new technologies particularly exciting. “As part of my thesis, I developed a machine learning system that automatically recognizes and evaluates gymnastics exercises. This experience greatly influenced my interest in artificial intelligence and data processing,” explains Holzer.
Holzer has clear ideas for the future: “I see computer science as one of the most important areas of the future, it will have an even greater impact on almost all areas of life and work, from medicine to mobility and, of course, AI. I would like to see my role primarily as someone who actively helps shape the future – whether through my own projects, new ideas, or solutions that improve our everyday lives and make them more flexible.” The teampool scholarship will ease the financial burden of Holzer’s studies and allow her to concentrate fully on her studies.
