High-Performance Data Network ACOnet: The Future of Knowledge
- 2 minutes read - 315 wordsOn October 9, 2024, an informative and forward-looking event on “The Future of Knowledge: Digital Resource Management” took place in the Library Auditorium of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS).
Experts from the fields of art and culture, libraries, and IT services were invited. The audience included representatives from various institutions, including Mozarteum, Landestheater, SALK, Land Salzburg, Haus der Natur, Museum der Moderne, Salzburg Festival Fund, City of Salzburg, Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, and PMU.
At the center of the event was the Austrian high-performance data network ACOnet, which serves as essential infrastructure for scientific, research-oriented, and cultural institutions. ACOnet not only offers a secure and stable fiber-optic network with first-class international connectivity, but it also supports modern information and communication technology in a variety of ways.
Participants gained comprehensive insights into the latest developments and offerings. Particularly with regard to the digital future of museums and collections, ACOnet plays a central role, as it promotes international cooperation and the exchange of digital assets between institutions. PLUS representatives were also in attendance, including the Dean of the Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences, Arne Bathke, IT Services CIO Gerald Steiner, as well as representatives from the government, including Head of Digital Initiative Doris Fuschlberger. Among the speakers were Raman Ganguly, Renate Kreil, and Christian Panigl, who captivated the audience with exciting presentations on current developments.
