Postdoctoral Position in Cyber Security

At the Department of Computer Science, a position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in research and teaching is available in accordance with the Austrian Universities Act (UG) and the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff (§ 26). (Job group B1; the minimum monthly salary for this position is €2,466.45 gross [14 times per year] and may increase based on relevant work experience as specified in the collective agreement.)

Responsibilities:
- Independent scientific research and teaching;
- Scientific support in research and teaching within the Cybersecurity research group;
- Development of independent research projects under self-directed responsibility and their execution;
- Contribution to externally funded research projects;
- Independent teaching equivalent to two semester hours per week.
Academic Year 2024/2025
Required Qualifications:
- Completed doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related discipline;
- Experience in writing academic papers, active publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at scientific conferences;
- Experience in university-level teaching;
- Experience with externally funded research projects;
- Project design and management skills: ability to draft research proposals and coordinate with academic and non-academic partners;
- Demonstrated expertise in discrete mathematics and the science of security;
- Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following areas (multiple areas preferred): combinatorial design theory, security testing, software security;
- Proficiency in German (spoken and written), or a well-documented willingness to learn the language.
Desired Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in further applications of discrete mathematics in computer science, with a focus on cybersecurity and/or complex systems;
- Experience in organizing academic aspects of workshops/conferences or similar activities;
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.

- Strong organizational and analytical skills with a structured approach to work;
- Genuine interest in research and working with students;
- Teamwork skills and the ability to solve problems.
