In 2022, the Department of Computer Science at Paris Lodron University of Salzburg celebrated significant achievements. Two students stood out for their exceptional performance:
Matthias Pleschinger, at just 15 years old, was the youngest computer science student at the university and represented Austria at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in Indonesia. Competing against 350 participants from 90 nations, he earned a bronze medal, a remarkable feat considering the difficulty of the tasks, which even challenge advanced computer science students. Pleschinger’s success was largely due to his involvement in the university’s GO4IT initiative, which offers young students advanced IT knowledge and opportunities.
Thomas Wulz achieved first place in Austria’s IT Security National Championship. His professor praised him as an outstanding student, not only excelling academically but also making notable contributions in cybersecurity, becoming one of the best hackers in Austria.
These achievements highlight the strength of the department’s educational programs and research initiatives, preparing students to compete and succeed at both national and international levels Plus Archive
