Key Achievements in 2023 Young Investigator Award: Tijn de Vos received recognition for their work on distributed quantum computing. Expanded Offerings The department introduced a new English-taught Master’s in Computer Science starting in October 2023, aimed at both local and international students. This highlights the department’s commitment to fostering global talent in IT and computer science.

In 2022, the Department of Computer Science at Paris Lodron University of Salzburg celebrated significant achievements. Two students stood out for their exceptional performance: Matthias Pleschinger, at just 15 years old, was the youngest computer science student at the university and represented Austria at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in Indonesia. Competing against 350 participants from 90 nations, he earned a bronze medal, a remarkable feat considering the difficulty of the tasks, which even challenge advanced computer science students.
