In the MSc degree course in Informatics, students gain further competences in the field of informatics and its areas of application. On the basis of scientific findings, the obligatory modules impart state-of-the-art methods and techniques in important core areas. Students can choose to specialize in either formal subjects (e.g., higher mathematics, theoretical informatics) or subjects focused on practical experience (e.g., data bases, software techniques, software systems). Modules of application (e.g., geoinformatics, bioinformatics, information law, multimedia, image processing, data analysis, geometric computing) and optional modules allow students to specialize according to their individual interests.

Practical Internship
Curriculum 2023
Students enrolled in Curriculum 2022 are recommended to undertake a career-oriented internship as part of the “Elective Courses” for a duration of four weeks, equivalent to full-time employment (6 ECTS credits, see §9).
Procedure
To ensure a smooth process, please complete the form below and submit it to the Chair of the Curriculum Commission.
Before Starting the Internship
- Notification: Inform the Chair of the Curriculum Commission of your intention to undertake the internship and the intended institution (e.g., company, government agency) by submitting the provided Internship Form.
- Task Description: Include a brief description of the tasks you will be performing during the internship.
After Completing the Internship
- Confirmation: Have the respective institution confirm the completion of your internship by signing the Internship Form. Any changes to the initially outlined tasks should be briefly noted on the form.
Recording the Internship in PLUSonline
- Module Registration: Register for the module “Recommended Practice (Bachelor of Computer Science §9)” in PLUSonline to ensure your internship is properly recorded.
Final Confirmation
- Submission: Submit the completed Internship Form to the Chair of the Curriculum Commission for final approval.
- Grading: Upon completion of all steps, you will receive a grade of “successfully participated” as part of the aforementioned module.
Record Keeping
- Retention: Keep the Internship Form for your degree application purposes.
